A PSN user says they were permanently banned despite a clean record, fueling fresh outrage over sudden account suspensions and how little recourse players really have.

A PSN user claims their account was permanently suspended without warning, sharing a screenshot that appears to show no moderation actions in the past six months. Shared by Reddit user u/Buff_Baby_22 in the r/playstation subreddit, the post has quickly gained attention and sparked wider discussion about Sony’s suspension protocols and the transparency of its customer support.

The screenshot, purportedly from Sony’s official support portal, shows a “Permanently Suspended” status alongside a note stating, “Actions against you in the past 6 months: 0.” According to the user, the ban came without warning or explanation. Attempts to contact customer support reportedly led to unclear answers or sudden disconnections. In one instance, a support agent allegedly declined to help, citing “security reasons.”

The post racked up thousands of upvotes and drew in hundreds of comments, with many users sharing similar experiences. Some pointed to sudden bans after chargebacks or account compromises, while others suggested that simply logging in from a new location might be enough to trigger Sony’s automated suspension systems.

In the EU, some users recommended filing Subject Access Requests (SAR) under GDPR, an approach that has reportedly led to overturned bans in certain cases. Meanwhile, U.S.-based players pointed to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) as a potential way to escalate and trigger a manual review.

The case has drawn renewed attention to how little control users have over their digital purchases and the opaque nature of platform moderation. Several users voiced frustration over losing access to purchased games, cloud saves, and subscriptions, often with no clear explanation or way to appeal the decision.

This isn’t the first time PSN users have claimed to experience sudden permanent bans without prior violations. In the recent past, multiple Reddit threads have surfaced alleging similar patterns, sudden bans without warning, no email notifications, and limited support responses.

In a December 2023 post, Reddit user u/igneeous said their PSN account was permanently suspended without prior notice or explanation. The ban was quietly lifted days later, but no details were provided. Another user, u/thotnothot, shared a similar experience in May 2023, reporting a suspension with no chargebacks or email notice. Attempts to get clarity from support reportedly led nowhere.

As of writing, no response from Sony has been mentioned by the individual who shared the post. Users impacted by similar bans are urging others to escalate through official support channels, rather than relying on automated chat responses that reportedly lead nowhere.
