Proton e.MAS 5: Malaysia’s Most Affordable EV Opens for Bookings from Just RM99

Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a wholly owned subsidiary of national carmaker Proton, has officially opened bookings for the Proton e.MAS 5, Malaysia’s most affordable fully electric vehicle. The announcement came during a nationwide livestream event on 4 October 2025, where thousands of Malaysians tuned in to witness the debut of Proton’s first mass-market EV aimed at making electric mobility accessible to everyone.

    Malaysia’s Most Affordable EV: Priced Between RM60,000 – RM80,000

During the livestream, PRO-NET confirmed the estimated pricing of the Proton e.MAS 5 between RM60,000 and RM80,000, positioning it as the most affordable EV in Malaysia. Designed to suit the needs of modern urban Malaysians, the e.MAS 5 promises a blend of style, practicality, and sustainability — appealing to young professionals, first-time EV buyers, and families seeking an economical second car.

Bookings are now open for just RM99, and early customers will receive a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ‘n Go NFC card preloaded with RM100, along with an RM500 rebate on the booking fee.

Compact Design, Smart Connectivity, and a Range of Up to 325km

According to CEO Zhang Qiang, the Proton e.MAS 5 is “made for Malaysians who want a car that fits easily into their daily lives.” The compact EV combines rear-wheel drive dynamics with a practical driving range of up to 325 km, ensuring efficient daily commuting with minimal running costs. Powered by ATLAS OS, Proton’s in-car intelligent system, the e.MAS 5 provides a connected driving experience, complete with home charging compatibility and live charging map integration through PRO-NET’s nationwide network.

Big on Features, Small in Size

Despite its compact size, the e.MAS 5 punches well above its weight with features typically found in higher-end EVs. It’s supported by Proton’s “10 + 10 and 10 More” unique selling points, which include a mix of advanced safety, comfort, and tech innovations. These range from a crystal gear selector and rear multi-link suspension to fast DC charging, voice command in English and Malay, and high-density battery technology.

Inside, the car features dual-tone styling, LED headlamps, 360-degree cameras, and ADAS driver assistance systems, while entertainment and connectivity come through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Every detail is designed to make the e.MAS 5 a safe, stylish, and smart choice for today’s Malaysian drivers.

Early Bird Booking Offers Now Live

Bookings for the Proton e.MAS 5 are officially open via the Proton e.MAS website or at any of the 42 Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide. For just RM99, customers can secure their unit and enjoy exclusive early-bird rewards, including:

    • A limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ‘n Go NFC card preloaded with RM100
    • An RM500 rebate on the booking fee
