ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG: Asus joins Gigabyte and LG with Primary Tandem OLED gaming monitor for $699 – NotebookCheck.net News

Asus has joined Gigabyte and LG in adopting the latter’s new Primary Tandem WOLED panel. Combining a 280 Hz refresh rate with a 1440p resolution, the 4th Gen panel also allows the Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG to deliver 1,500 nits peak brightness and 335 nits in SDR mode.

Now, Asus has confirmed that it is using the same panel inside the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG. As such, Asus quotes 15% higher brightness in its press release compared with previous WOLED panels. In real terms, this should result in 335 nits peak SDR brightness and 1,500 nits across small areas with HDR mode activated. The new panel allows the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG to boast VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certification, 99.5% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and Delta E<2 factory calibration too.

Moreover, Asus complements the monitor’s 1440p resolution and 280 Hz refresh rate with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and a USB hub. On top of that, the company claims to have included a 30% smaller stand than those found on older 27-inch XG series monitors like the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDPG. Although Asus has not confirmed as much, TFT Central claims to have been informed that the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG will be available in Q4 2025 for $699.
