ROG Xbox Ally series to be available on 16 October

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has confirmed that the highly anticipated ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will officially arrive in Malaysia on October 16, 2025. Both gaming handhelds, developed in partnership with Xbox and powered by AMD Ryzen™ Z2 Series processors, promise to redefine portable PC gaming with cutting-edge performance and seamless integration into the Xbox ecosystem.

The launch marks Malaysia as one of the first wave of countries to receive the devices alongside key markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, and Australia. The ROG Xbox Ally X will also debut in China this year, while the standard Ally is expected there in early 2026. Availability for other Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines will follow shortly after.

In terms of performance, the ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, featuring four Zen 2 cores, eight threads, and eight RDNA 2 GPU cores. It comes paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, a 512GB M.2 SSD, and a 60Wh battery.

The ROG Xbox Ally X offers a more powerful setup, featuring the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with eight Zen 5 cores, 16 threads, 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores, and an integrated NPU. It also packs 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM, a 1TB M.2 SSD, and an 80Wh battery for extended gaming sessions.

The devices will ship with Xbox’s new Handheld Compatibility Program, which optimizes thousands of PC titles for handheld play. Games will be labeled as Handheld Optimized for full plug-and-play readiness or Mostly Compatible if minor setting adjustments are required. Additionally, Xbox is rolling out advanced shader delivery, which preloads shaders during game downloads, enabling games to start up to ten times faster, run smoother, and conserve battery life.

Malaysian gamers will also benefit from upcoming AI-powered features exclusive to the Ally X. Starting in early 2026, Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) will allow the handheld to upscale games in real time for higher-quality visuals and smoother framerates. Another feature, Highlight Reels, will use AI to automatically capture and generate short clips of key gameplay moments, making it easier to share on social platforms.

ASUS positions the ROG Xbox Ally series as direct competitors to handheld gaming systems like Valve’s Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go, with a clear advantage in terms of Xbox Game Pass integration, Windows PC compatibility, and next-gen AMD hardware. The Malaysian launch is expected to draw strong interest from PC gamers looking for a portable but uncompromised gaming experience.

Pricing and pre-order details for the Malaysian market will be revealed in the coming weeks, with early units expected to sell out quickly given strong regional demand.
