Samsung begins roll out of One UI 8 to supported devices

Samsung has officially announced the rollout of One UI 8, the latest iteration of its custom Android interface. Packed with advanced multimodal AI capabilities, enhanced personalization, and a UX optimized for different device form factors, One UI 8 aims to deliver smarter, more seamless Galaxy experiences. The update begins rolling out this week starting with the Galaxy S25 series, before expanding to the Galaxy S24 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, and additional eligible devices later this year.

    Personalized Suggestions with Advanced Security

One UI 8 builds on Galaxy AI by providing context-aware suggestions that adapt to each user’s lifestyle. Features like Now Bar display real-time app activity and media progress directly on the Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow, while Now Brief offers personalized daily updates covering traffic, reminders, Samsung Moments, and even health insights from Galaxy Watch.

Security takes a major leap forward with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates app-specific encrypted environments to keep sensitive data secure. Knox Matrix adds cross-device security by signing out devices from the Samsung Account if they’re flagged for risks, while Secure Wi-Fi with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) enhances protection against emerging threats, even over public networks.

AI That Works the Way the User Does

Leveraging multimodal AI, One UI 8 combines visual, auditory, and contextual intelligence to deliver intuitive experiences. Gemini Live allows users to interact naturally with AI in real time based on what they’re seeing or watching, while Circle to Search with Google now supports gaming assistance and improved translation. Users can instantly circle elements on screen to get gaming tips, character info, or see on-screen translations in their preferred language across news, social media, and more.

UX Optimized for Multiple Form Factors

One UI 8 adapts to different Galaxy devices, particularly foldables and tablets. New AI-driven features include AI Results View that keeps AI-generated results in Split View or Floating View, and Galaxy AI Optimized for Large Screens which enhances Multi Window with drag-and-drop support for AI-generated text and images. Flip users gain hands-free access to Gemini Live on FlexWindow, while Audio Eraser offers a one-tap solution to remove background noise in video or audio apps.

Customization has also been elevated. The clock widget adapts dynamically to wallpaper contours, and FlexWindow wallpapers now support auto-curation, emoji overlays, and colour customization. Tools like Portrait Studio generate artistic pet portraits, while Call Captions and Interpreter enhance communication with instant captions, translations, and AI-powered typing.

    Malaysia Rollout Timeline

Samsung confirmed the One UI 8 rollout schedule for Malaysia:

    • Galaxy S25 Series – 18 September 2025
    • Galaxy S24 Series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6 – 25 September 2025
