Samsung launches 9100 PRO PCIe 5.0 SSD in Malaysia, up to 4TB from RM679

Samsung Electronics Singapore has announced the availability of the 9100 PRO in Malaysia, introducing its first consumer SSD series to support PCIe® 5.0. With sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s respectively, the 9100 PRO is Samsung’s fastest consumer SSD to date, offering high-performance capabilities for multitasking on laptops, gaming PCs, and game consoles.

The 9100 PRO comes in four storage capacities—1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB—designed for users who need faster access speeds for parallel data processing workloads. Professional creators working with AI-driven content and gamers seeking extreme performance will particularly benefit from the SSD’s enhanced capabilities and expanded storage capacity.

With PCIe 5.0 support, the 9100 PRO is nearly twice as fast as the previous generation, significantly improving efficiency and responsiveness. While the 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 4TB model offered a sequential read speed of 7,450 MB/s, the new 9100 PRO reaches up to 14,800 MB/s in sequential read speeds and 13,400 MB/s in sequential write speeds. Random read and write speeds also see an upgrade, reaching up to 2,200K IOPS and 2,600K IOPS, respectively.

Power efficiency has improved by 49% over the previous generation, thanks to the SSD’s advanced heat management technology. The 9100 PRO 2TB model achieves sequential read and write power efficiency of 1,822 MB/s and 1,703 MB/s per Watt, respectively, compared to the 990 PRO 4TB’s 1,221 MB/s and 1,255 MB/s per Watt.

To prevent overheating, the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB variants of the 9100 PRO include an 8.8mmT heatsink that meets PCISIG® D8 standard specifications, ensuring better thermal control. The 8TB model features a thicker 11.25mmT heatsink, making it Samsung’s first NVMe SSD to offer expanded capacity for intensive gaming, next-generation game development, and large-scale content creation.

The 9100 PRO also includes Samsung Magician software, which provides tools for seamless data migration, data protection, drive health monitoring, and timely firmware updates to optimize SSD performance.

The 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models of the 9100 PRO will be available from April 4, 2025, via the Samsung Online Store, Samsung Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, and selected consumer electronics retailers. The 8TB model will be released in June 2025.

The recommended retail prices are as follows:

    • 9100 PRO: 1TB (MZ-VAP1T0BW) – MYR 679, 2TB (MZ-VAP2T0BW) – MYR 1,068, 4TB (MZ-VAP4T0BW) – MYR 1,989
    • 9100 PRO with Heatsink: 1TB (MZ-VAP1T0CW) – MYR 745, 2TB (MZ-VAP2T0CW) – MYR 1,149, 4TB (MZ-VAP4T0CW) – MYR 2,009

With its breakthrough speeds, improved efficiency, and expanded storage options, the Samsung 9100 PRO sets a new benchmark for consumer SSDs, delivering a powerful solution for professionals and gamers alike.
