Samsung launches Galaxy Z TriFold for a cool RM11k price tag

Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z TriFold, its most ambitious foldable device yet and the company’s first smartphone capable of folding twice. Designed with a triple-panel, dual-hinge construction, the Galaxy Z TriFold shifts seamlessly between a familiar smartphone form and a full-sized tablet, offering one of the most versatile mobile experiences Samsung has ever delivered.

When unfolded, the TriFold reveals a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, creating an expansive workspace for entertainment, creative tasks, and productivity. Fold it back down and users get a 6.5-inch cover display with up to 2600 nits of brightness, providing the practicality of a traditional phone without needing to open the device.

Powering Samsung’s most complex foldable is the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, delivering high-end CPU, GPU, and on-device AI performance. The phone features a three-cell 5,600mAh battery distributed across all panels for improved weight balance and endurance, paired with 45W fast charging.

On the back, Samsung equips the TriFold with a 200MP wide camera, a 12MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 10MP telephoto lens, designed to provide flagship-level imaging even with the added engineering challenges of a triple-folding body.

Durability remains a critical focus due to the device’s multi-hinge architecture, and Samsung has reinforced the TriFold with a titanium-housed Armor FlexHinge system, an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, and a ceramic-glass fiber composite back plate. The company says the redesigned hinge mechanism distributes stress more evenly across the fold points, enabling smoother transitions while maintaining long-term reliability.

Where the Galaxy Z TriFold pushes boundaries is in productivity. Samsung’s expanded multitasking tools allow up to three vertically aligned apps to run on the open 10-inch display with adjustable window sizes. Samsung DeX can also operate directly on the device without needing an external display, offering up to four independent workspaces with multiple apps running in each. The result is a device that blends smartphone portability with tablet-class real estate and PC-like workflows in one hybrid form factor.

For entertainment, the large display is well-suited for movies, high-resolution content, games, and creative tools, supported by vivid colors, deep blacks, and high peak brightness. The cover screen mirrors the flagship experience with smooth 120Hz motion and enhanced outdoor visibility, giving users premium visuals regardless of how they use the device.

Samsung is rolling out the Galaxy Z TriFold first in South Korea on 12 December 2025, followed by markets including China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE before a wider global release in early 2026. In South Korea, the TriFold is priced at KRW 3,590,400, which converts to roughly RM11,000, though Malaysian pricing has yet to be announced. The device’s futuristic form factor and premium price point indicate that it’s aimed at enthusiasts, creators, and productivity-focused users who want a device that adapts to different workflows on the fly.
