On Metacritic, the game holds a Metascore of 85 and a User Score of 8.0. GameStar awarded it a solid 80 out of 100, praising not only the challenging puzzles but also the dark atmosphere and the open-ended design of the island. After a linear introduction, Nex opens up completely, with dungeons that can be tackled in any order – a definite highlight for fans of exploration. However, the game also faced some criticism for its increasingly repetitive combat and consistently flat storyline.
