Both models signal smart’s bold ambitions to shape the premium electric vehicle (EV) landscape in Malaysia, combining cutting-edge design, intelligent technology, and dynamic performance for the next generation of drivers.

The smart #5 marks a significant step for the brand as it enters the premium mid-size electric SUV segment. Designed for all-terrain exploration and modern lifestyles, the SUV brings together rugged aesthetics, luxury features, and state-of-the-art technology. According to Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET, the smart #5 “represents a bold evolution of what an electric SUV can be,” combining premium design, adventure-ready features, and intelligent innovation, all crafted for Malaysians eager for more from their driving experience.

The smart #5’s design highlights include a panoramic halo roof, frameless doors, dual-tone side mirrors, floating smart logo wheels, and playful ‘easter egg’ details, creating a personality-rich and sophisticated exterior. Inside, passengers will enjoy a spacious and versatile cabin, featuring a one-button Comfort Mode that adjusts the co-driver and rear seat for maximum relaxation. Ambient lighting with 256 colours, oak wood accents, fold-flat rear seats, and a king-size in-car suite mode elevate both luxury and practicality. The SUV also offers generous storage, with 1,530 litres in the rear, a 72-litre frunk, and 34 smart compartments.

Technology takes centre stage inside the cockpit, where an AMD V2000 chip powers the smart OS built on Unreal Engine, delivering seamless digital interactions. A 25.6-inch AR head-up display, dual 13-inch AMOLED screens, and the AI-powered avatar Leo provide a futuristic and immersive user experience, while audio is handled by a premium 20-speaker Sennheiser system, complete with an ambient lift-up speaker for enhanced sound delivery.

The smart #5 is equipped with a 100kWh battery delivering up to 590 km of WLTP range, and thanks to its 800V fast-charging system, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. For adventurous drivers, multiple off-road driving modes (Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, Adaptive) and a 3.3kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) outlet allow users to power electronics off-grid — perfect for outdoor trips.

In parallel, smart Malaysia has opened bookings for the exclusive smart #1 BRABUS Limited Edition, developed in collaboration with BRABUS Kuala Lumpur. This high-performance variant features a custom aerodynamic kit with front and rear spoilers, sport springs for a lower ride height, 19-inch BRABUS Monoblock Z wheels, and striking interior details such as red stitching, exclusive BRABUS finishes, and backlit scuff plates. Official pricing is expected to be revealed in June 2025.
