Realism, teamwork and the gritty atmosphere of the front lines: The intense World War II shooter Hell Let Loose is now 60% off on Steam, making it more affordable than ever. The offer runs until October 20.

Hell Let Loose, developed by Black Matter in partnership with Team17, launched in July 2021 after nearly two years in Early Access. Known for its large-scale battles, realistic vehicles and historically accurate weapons, the game has earned a reputation as one of the most intense multiplayer shooters around. Instead of fast-paced arcade action, it delivers a gritty, authentic battlefield experience where teamwork is essential – lone wolves won’t last long, and clear communication is key to survival.

The game features massive maps based on real-world battlefields such as Kursk, Carentan and El Alamein. Players can choose from a range of roles – from riflemen and snipers to tank commanders. One player assumes the role of commander, directing the team and calling in artillery or air support. But winning isn’t just about fighting – logistics play a crucial part. Engineers build supply points and repair stations, trucks deliver ammo and construction materials to the front, and the commander can airdrop equipment when needed. Efficient resource management is essential for deploying tanks, operating artillery and pushing the line forward.

Communication is the backbone of Hell Let Loose. Players are organized into squads, each connected through an integrated VOIP system. Multiple radio channels allow for coordination within squads or direct communication between squad leaders and the commander. Rather than relying on constant shootouts or solo heroics, success depends on tactics, teamwork and smart coordination – an aspect that was particularly emphasized in GameStar’s German review.

Since its release, Hell Let Loose has accumulated over 140,000 reviews on Steam, with 82% rated positive. On Metacritic, the game holds a Metascore of 79 and a User Score of 6.5. GameStar awarded it a strong 86 out of 100, praising its intense atmosphere, emphasis on teamwork and communication, and demanding shooter mechanics. However, the game’s steep learning curve and occasional technical issues have drawn some criticism. It’s not a title for solo players or fans of fast-paced action – yet GameStar still called Hell Let Loose “the best World War II shooter in years.”

60% off on Steam for the first time

Hell Let Loose usually costs around $50 on Steam, but until October 20, it’s 60% off and available for just under $20 – the lowest price so far, according to SteamDB. The Holidays Special Bundle offers even better value, including two cosmetic DLCs for slightly less than the base game alone. On the Steam Deck (currently listed for around $625 on Amazon), the game is marked as “Playable.” With a few tweaks to the settings, it should run smoothly on the go.
