Synology Launches ActiveProtect in Malaysia: A Unified Enterprise Data Protection Solution

Synology has officially introduced ActiveProtect, a new line of enterprise data protection appliances designed to simplify backup, recovery, and cybersecurity for businesses in Malaysia. This all-in-one solution integrates enterprise backup software, server, and a backup repository into a single system, eliminating the complexity of traditional data protection approaches.

With a focus on strengthening cyber resilience, ActiveProtect offers comprehensive platform support, advanced security features, and scalable management while maintaining a transparent pricing model. As a global leader in private cloud storage, Synology currently manages over 520 exabytes of data across 13 million servers and is trusted by more than half of the Fortune 500. As of 2024, the company protects over 25 million workloads worldwide, ensuring business continuity and robust data security across industries.

“Data protection should empower businesses, not be a burden to them,” said Jia-Yu Liu, Executive Vice President at Synology. “ActiveProtect embodies Synology’s expertise in hardware and software engineering and insights from close collaboration with customers. We are confident that ActiveProtect will exceed enterprises’ expectations for data protection.”

    Addressing Malaysia’s Growing Cybersecurity Challenges

With the increasing threat of ransomware attacks in Malaysia, including major incidents affecting government agencies and enterprises in 2023, the demand for secure, scalable, and easy-to-use data protection solutions has never been greater. Businesses also face strict data compliance regulations, such as Malaysia’s PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act), making cyber resilience a top priority for organizations.

“The demand for a scalable, secure, and user-friendly data protection solution has never been greater, and ActiveProtect is positioned to meet that need in Malaysia. We look forward to seeing how it empowers enterprises to secure their most valuable assets with greater ease,” said Thachawan Chinchanakarn, Synology’s ASEAN Regional Manager.

    Key Features of ActiveProtect

    • Unified Solution – ActiveProtect integrates backup, recovery, and management in a single appliance, eliminating the need for separate hardware, software, and maintenance costs.
    • Comprehensive Workload Support – Businesses can protect PCs, Macs, file and physical servers, virtual machines, databases, and Microsoft 365 services through one intuitive interface.
    • Scalable Management – The ActiveProtect Manager (APM) console allows businesses to view and monitor up to 150,000 workloads or 2,500 sites, ensuring enterprise-grade visibility and control.
    • Advanced Cybersecurity Features – The solution includes immutable backups, air-gap capabilities, and regulatory compliance to safeguard businesses against cyber threats and data breaches.
    • Efficiency at Scale – Fast incremental backups with global source-side deduplication help reduce network load by up to 99% and storage needs by 50%, significantly lowering operational costs.
    • Transparent Pricing Model – Businesses gain access to full platform support and advanced protection features with a one-time purchase. Managing up to three backup servers is license-free, with optional CMS licenses available for larger deployments.

    Live Demonstration Showcases Enterprise-Grade Protection

During the launch event, Synology product experts demonstrated ActiveProtect’s capabilities, highlighting how the solution simplifies enterprise data security and recovery. Designed to address growing complexities in safeguarding critical data, ActiveProtect ensures that businesses can restore operations quickly and efficiently, minimizing downtime in both regular recovery and disaster scenarios.

    Availability in Malaysia

ActiveProtect is now available in Malaysia through Synology’s distributor and partner network. Businesses interested in learning more about ActiveProtect can visit Synology’s official website. Those who wish to experience the solution firsthand can request a demo here.

With cutting-edge security, scalable architecture, and cost-effective data protection, ActiveProtect is set to redefine enterprise backup and recovery for businesses in Malaysia.
