TechLife Pad Plus 12″ LTE Review – Superb Value Large Screen Tablet

Working on a tablet has become a trend these days due to their portable form factor and affordability as compared to laptops, budget tablet hunters can now look forward to the Techlife Pad Plus 12″ LTE, which as the name suggests, it is a 12-inch tablet that comes with 4G connectivity and surprise, surprise, it costs just RM799 to own one, but is it the real deal despite being a budget device?

The name Techlife might sound a little unfamiliar to most of us, but it is a sub-brand of realme, which focuses more on budget oriented gadgets. Despite being a budget device, the tablet has a very premium build with an all aluminum body, even the camera ring has has a nice premium swirly texture to it, the tablet is as also very slim at just around 6mm, though Techlife hasn’t disclosed its actual weight but a simple lift gifts it around 500g, which is rather standard across other 12-inch tablets.

The tablet’s 12-inch 2K display with a 90Hz refresh rate is technically the largest screen you can get in its class, though colors aren’t quite as vivid as an OLED display which you shouldn’t expect it to pack one, but it offers a very comfortable viewing experience if you want to read up a long e-mail or binge watch a Netflix originals, and speaking of the latter, this tablet is Widevine L1 certified and can support Full HD playback on Netflix.

Complementing the visual experience is a quad-speaker system that surprisingly plays decent sound with some good punchy bass, I daresay that it sounds even louder than my entry-level iPad which only comes with a pair of stereo speakers, though one unfortunate thing is the lack of a headphone jack, which is just annoying because there’s simply no reason to omit since this tablet isn’t water-resistant and some people still prefer wired audio.

The tablet offers decent everyday productivity performance with the Mediatek Helio G91 processor and it comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, you can virtually expand its RAM up to an additional 8GB if you want to keep more apps in the background, storage can also be expanded with a MicroSD card if you need more for storing media.

Working on the tablet is a great experience as the Android 15 based Techlife UI software skin is very lightweight with zero preloaded bloatware, it feels fast enough when launching and switching apps but there are obvious stutters in animation which is due to the processor, but at least there hasn’t been any freezes when I am using it for doing some lightweight productivity work.

Techlife has bundled a smart Bluetooth keyboard case with the tablet that’s worth RM299, it even has a trackpad for easier text selection when you need to use it, though admittedly it doesn’t offer a great typing experience if compared to a similar priced Bluetooth keyboard, you do at least get this great convenience when purchasing the tablet.

The Techlife Pad Plus 12″ LTE comes with a 8000mAh battery that easily lasts up to three days of moderate productivity use even with 4G connectivity, which is really impressive and useful for those that wants to stay always connected on the go, there’s also 18W fast charging when will take a while to fully charge when you run low on battery.

Overall, the Techlife Pad Plus 12″ LTE is an excellent device that offers the necessary performance and features for a budget tablet experience, it retails for just RM799 in Malaysia and comes bundled with the smart Bluetooth keyboard and a Techlife storage bag worth RM398 for a limited time, it is definitely a great deal not to be missed if you are looking for a good budget 12-inch tablet for school and work.

The Techlife Pad Plus 12″ LTE can be purchased here.
