The best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories are all products worth considering if you make liberal use of your console and its many bespoke features – and want to get the most out of it. From controllers and cameras to carry cases and screen protectors, there’s already plenty of items worth buying, whether it’s to provide new ways to play the best Nintendo Switch 2 games or give your console extra layers of protection.

We’ve tested and reviewed every single product in this buying guide to ensure we can wholeheartedly recommend them as Nintendo Switch 2 accessories that are worth your time and money.

Rest assured, we will continue to update this buying guide on a monthly basis, keeping you in the loop on the latest and greatest Nintendo Switch 2 accessories. Stay tuned for more options in the future, including microSD Express card storage solutions, controllers, gaming headsets, and more.

I’ve been extensively covering the Nintendo Switch 2 since well before its initial announcement, and have attended preview events for the console in the run-up to its June 2025 launch. In addition, I’ve tested and reviewed several Switch 2 products, including the console itself. I’m using this experience with the hardware to provide a carefully curated buying guide encompassing everything from controllers to must-have storage and console protection solutions.

8BitDo’s excellent leverless controller is perfect for fighting games on Switch 2. A bit of a learning curve here, but a wonderful controller experience nonetheless.

The best Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller

    Reasons to buy

    +

    Incredible build quality

    +

    Super smooth thumbsticks

    +

    Excellent battery life

    Reasons to avoid

    –

    Not Hall effect

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the best controller that’s tailor-made for the Switch 2 right now is the official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. The original Switch’s Pro Controller was already great, but Nintendo has managed to improve upon that model in several key areas.

First of all, build quality is utterly fantastic, with a smooth matte finish and comfortable, ergonomic grips that fit snugly in the hands. While I certainly would’ve preferred the inclusion of drift-resisting Hall effect sticks, the thumbsticks that we do have here feel sublimely smooth and responsive. The addition of two rear remappable buttons – that you can assign on a per-game basis – is a nice bonus, too.

The standout feature, though, has to be the Switch 2 Pro Controller’s beyond-impressive battery life. At around 40 hours, the controller simply refuses to run out of juice. You can (and I have) squeeze in playthroughs of entire RPGs in the time it takes the Switch 2 Pro Controller to give up the ghost. Something you absolutely cannot do on rival pads like the PS5’s DualSense Wireless Controller.

    Reasons to buy

    +

    1080p picture quality

    +

    Wide field of view

    +

    Ideal for GameChat

    Reasons to avoid

    –

    Pretty rigid build

Even though most PC-facing webcams will also work on Nintendo Switch 2 for the purposes of GameChat sessions, there aren’t all that many officially licensed options. Hori’s offerings, for example, disappoint with poor 480p picture quality. The official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera has its share of problems, but its 1080p output and wide field of view are a step up from third-party offerings.

It is a bit restrictive as cameras go, stuck firmly on a rigid stem attached to a circular base. You can swivel the camera at a vertical angle, but not a horizontal one. It’s not a great fit for portable play, then, but it works well in desk and living room setups. An included privacy shutter is certainly welcome, too.

The camera handles GameChat play sessions just fine, too, doing an admirable job of cropping out the background. You will appear a little fuzzy around the edges depending on your room space, but it’s not as noticeable when you’re shrunken down into a floating box for online play.

The best Nintendo Switch 2 headset

    Reasons to buy

    +

    Affordable price tag

    +

    Fantastic audio quality

    +

Really nice build for the price

    Reasons to avoid

    –

    Wired only

Bluetooth connectivity on Switch 2 isn’t the best. Whenever I’ve tested it with gaming headsets, I’ve almost always experienced uncomfortable amounts of audio delay. That’s why I think wired headsets are a much better option on Nintendo’s console, and I can highly recommend the Corsair HS55 Stereo as a result.

While it’s a few years old, its value-busting price tag of $59 / £49 / AU$89 presents a low barrier for entry. And despite that humble price tag, the HS55 Stereo’s sound quality is great.

Throw in a crystal clear mic and comfortable leatherette ear cups, and it makes a superb choice for gaming with a headset on Switch 2. The only real downside here is that the mic isn’t detachable, so it can look a little intrusive if you’re out and about. But otherwise, this is a real workhorse gaming headset with a quality that defies its affordability.

The best Nintendo Switch 2 screen protector

    Reasons to buy

    +

    Easy to apply

    +

    Highly scratch resistant

    +

    Anti-glare

    Reasons to avoid

    –

    No backup protector included

The very last thing you want happening to your Switch 2 while you’re out and about is for the Vivid LCD display getting nicks or scrapes. Whether that’s through wear and tear or accidental drops, damage to the handheld display can ruin your gaming experience.

There are already plenty of screen protectors on the market for Switch 2, but Belkin’s version is currently our go-to recommendation for most players. Incredibly easy to apply and scratch-resistant, it’ll give you the peace of mind you need while on the go with your Switch 2.

The Belkin Tempered Glass Screen Protector also features anti-reflection tech, meaning that its glass won’t catch any image-tampering glares from light sources. And at just $24.99 / £14.99 / AU$29.95, it’s one of the most affordable and useful Switch 2 accessories out there.

Best Nintendo Switch 2 carry case

The best Nintendo Switch 2 carry case

    Reasons to buy

    +

    Durable exterior

    +

Tons of room for your Switch 2 and games

    +

Big enough for dock and cables, too

    Reasons to avoid

    –

    Fairly plain design

Screen protectors are one thing, but they’re arguably just half of the whole protection package for your Switch 2. For full peace of mind while you’re on the go, an accessory like the Nacon Protection Case XL is a must-have. After all, you’re not just going to stuff your handheld into a backpack and leave it at that… right?

The Nacon Protection Case XL ticks all the carry case boxes. Highly durable, extra storage for game cards, and even has enough room to pack in your Switch 2 dock, cables, and other accessories should you desire. The case also has a handle at the top, making it easy to carry around.

At £24.90 (around $29.99), it’s a touch pricey as carrying cases go, but it’s an accessory that’ll more than pay for itself if and when it saves your Switch 2 from a nasty fall or unwanted scrapes.

As this isn’t yet available in the US, as an alternative, we would recommend the official Nintendo Switch 2 All-in-One Carry Case.

    Ergonomic button layout

    +

    Satisfying, tactile button presses

    +

    Reasons to avoid

    –

A bit more of a learning curve

Fighting games are back on the menu on Switch 2, with Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition available at launch, and upcoming titles like Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage rounding out the roster in the coming months.

8BitDo’s excellent Arcade Controller works on Switch 2 just as it does on the original Switch. It’s a leverless controller, meaning there’s no traditional joystick here. Instead, you’ll use dedicated buttons (not unlike a keyboard) for everything from movement to motion inputs.

It’s a slick and highly responsive controller that’s perfect for competitive play. The layout certainly does take some getting used to if you play fighting games on a traditional gamepad, but the learning process is incredibly fun and worth it for ranked-minded players.

Best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories – FAQs

What are the most essential Nintendo Switch 2 accessories?

If you have to buy just one or two from this list, then I highly recommend investing in the Belkin Tempered Glass Anti-Reflective Screen Protector and Nacon Protection Case XL. Portability is the name of the game for many Switch 2 owners, so ensuring your console is well-protected from wear and tear is priority one.

What are the best microSD Express cards for Nintendo Switch 2?

We are currently working on reviews for microSD Express card products at TechRadar Gaming, and we’ll soon have an entry for one in this buying guide. For now, Sandisk cards are always a safe bet and are officially licensed. Just make sure it’s a microSD ‘Express’ card you’re buying, as this is the only storage solution compatible with Switch 2. Standard microSD cards, meanwhile, will not work with the new console.

What’s the difference between microSD and microSD Express?

Really, the clue is in the name. Express cards are essentially the SSD equivalent of standard microSD cards, being much faster to both load and install game content. As a result, microSD Express cards are currently more expensive than their less-powerful counterparts, but we do expect their prices to come down over sales periods.

Will Nintendo Switch accessories work with Switch 2?

Broadly speaking, yes. The best Nintendo Switch accessories and best Nintendo Switch controllers should mostly be compatible with Switch 2, especially wireless Bluetooth gamepads. The only real exception here, as mentioned above, is microSD cards, which won’t work on Switch 2. Additionally, carry cases and screen protectors designed with the original Switch in mind likely won’t fit the larger size of the newer console.
