This upcoming free-to-play RPG is climbing Steam’s trending charts despite no release date – NotebookCheck.net News

Soulframe is trending on Steam’s Upcoming charts despite lacking a release date, driven by pre-alpha test waves, developer streams, and strong SteamDB numbers. High wishlist ranks imply long-term interest in the game, but sadly, a launch is still not imminent.

Soulframe doesn’t have a release date yet, but that hasn’t stopped it from climbing Steam’s “Trending Upcoming” charts. The fantasy RPG from Digital Extremes is still listed as “Coming soon,” yet recent player activity has evidently pushed it into visibility. This is a reminder that Steam’s trending lists are driven by attention, not launch proximity.

The game has been running ongoing Preludes pre-alpha tests, which allow selected players and Founders to access early builds. These test waves, alongside regular developer updates, have led to big spikes in wishlists and followers. That recent momentum is what places Soulframe alongside much closer releases, even though it may still be a long way from full launch.

Unlike smaller online RPGs built around instanced content, Soulframe is pitched as a large-scale action RPG with open environments, heavy melee combat, and a strong narrative focus. Combat shown so far includes weighty weapons, magic abilities, and large enemy encounters rather than fast arena-style matches. The pacing is slower and more deliberate, it seems – less like traditional MMOs and more like cinematic action RPGs.

World design looks to be another key pillar of the upcoming RPG. Soulframe’s setting revolves around nature, decay, and restoration, and the environments and enemies are related closely to that theme. The studio has also invested into the game’s visibility. Official Twitch streams, developer updates, and Twitch Drops have kept the game circulating across social and streaming platforms. Each new test wave or showcase likely sends players back to the Steam page – this feeds directly into the activity-based signals SteamDB tracks. SteamDB data shows Soulframe operating on a very different scale compared to most upcoming RPGs. The game currently ranks #67 in top wishlists and #95 in wishlist activity, alongside over 30,000 Steam followers.

Why this context matters? Soulframe’s presence on trending lists doesn’t mean a release is imminent, nor does it confirm a 2025 or 2026 launch window. What it does show is sustained interest, helped by Digital Extremes’ existing fanbase and a steady stream of playable updates. It is still a long-term project that’s very much taking shape.
