Ubiquiti announces Dream Router 5G Max with tri-band WiFi – NotebookCheck.net News
Ubiquiti has announced a new WiFi router that is quite advanced from a technical perspective. It utilizes three WiFi bands, sports a 5G cellular module for SIM and eSIM, and even has local storage for UniFi apps.
Ubiquiti has introduced a new WiFi router that comes with a built-in 5G cellular modem. The so-called Dream Router 5G Max also offers a pretty generous set of features. For example, the router can create a WiFi network on three frequency bands, namely 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz. The latter is an optional part of the WiFi 7 standard, which is also known as 802.11ax.
Aside from that, no technical specifications have been revealed yet, but based on the images, the 5G router from Ubiquiti has four RJ45 ports in total. It is still unclear whether these support multi-gigabit (802.3bz). More interesting is the SFP slot on the back, which can be used to connect fiber-optic cables. However, a suitable transceiver has to be purchased separately.
As indicated by the name, the Ubiquiti Dream Router 5G Max supports the 5G cellular standard. This network device further supports traditional SIM cards as well as eSIMs. According to Ubiquiti, users can define whether these cellular connections should be used for redundancy or failover, or as the primary connection.
Since this is a UniFi OS device, it can also run UniFi apps. For this purpose, it has a microSD card slot for storing files or video recordings. Meanwhile, a status display also provides various details about the network connection, such as signal quality, current throughput and total data usage.
The Dream Router 5G Max has just been announced and is not available for purchase just yet. Like the other new 5G devices, this router has already been listed at the brand’s official online store for an MSRP of $579 and official release date in February 2026.
