vivo X Fold 5 claimed to support Apple Watch and macOS screen mirroring feature
The barrier of transferring files between Android and iOS devices may have been resolved by most phone manufacturers, but vivo seems to be taking the next step to make their devices support Apple’s devices even better, as the company’s product manager has teased on Weibo that its upcoming flagship foldable, the vivo X Fold 5, will be able to connect to an Apple Watch and act as an external display for MacBooks.
If this feature comes straight out of the box alongside the foldable, it will be a big step forward in reducing the barriers of compatibility between Android and Apple devices, but at the same time, it would also mean that vivo could have been using some form of connection API to spoof Apple servers into thinking that the X Fold 5 is a legit Apple device, which to some point might even violate Apple’s terms of usage and the latter could simply issue a software update to block access.
The vivo X Fold 5 has been recently spotted in the SIRIM database in Malaysia, which could see a launch happening soon and it will be the first time that the company launches a foldable here, but by all means, just take everything with a pinch of salt and stay tuned to the company’s socials for more details.
With this new achievement, we are sure that other Android phone makers could eventually catch up and enable such compatibility support for Apple devices, exciting times!
