Wobbly Life set for film and TV adaptations

Rubber Band Games enters partnership with production company behind Hitman movies and upcoming TV series

Rubber Band Games’ open-world sandbox hit Wobbly Life is being adapted for film and television.

The UK-based independent developer has entered a partnership with Prime Universe Films to adapt the game as part of the studio’s transmedia efforts.

Prime Universe Films previously adapted two Hitman films starring Timothy Olyphant and Rupert Friend.

The company’s CEO Adrian Askarieh is also executive producer on the Hitman TV series, which is currently in production at 20th Television.

As Game Developer reports, the deal was announced with IO Interactive back in 2017.

“[Wobbly Life]’s meteoric growth shows the strength of the universe and I’m excited to work with RubberBandGames to bring it into film and television,” said Askarieh.

“This world has a tone, identity, and characters that lend themselves to storytelling across multiple formats.”

Wobbly Life launched in 2020 as a one-person indie project and has since transformed into a global franchise.

The game has sold over 2.8 million units worldwide, and has a total of six million players across all platforms. In 2025, player engagement reached over 60 million hours.

“From day one the success of Wobbly Life has been driven by the community,” said Rubber Band Games founder Tom Dunn.

“The team and I have been blown away by the huge growth this year and we’re thrilled to see Wobbly Life take its first steps into film and TV. We expect 2026 to be even bigger.”

In 2023, GamesIndustry.biz spoke with Dunn about the immediate success of Wobbly Life, and how he formed the core development team after creating the title as a solo project.
