Xiaomi showcases special Leica edition of Xiaomi 17 Ultra in new official videos – NotebookCheck.net News
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will come with a Leica-enhanced camera setup, and the company is taking this partnership to the next step by introducing a special edition for the camera flagship. This special Leica edition will come with a physical zoom ring.
Xiaomi will soon launch its new camera flagship phone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, it will come with a Leica-enhanced camera setup, making the smartphone geared for photography. For those who are more into the camera aspect, the company has just showcased a special Leica edition.
Compared to the regular version, this special Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition will come with what the brand calls “Master Zoom Ring.” As the name gives away, it’s a physical rotary ring, and its placement surrounds the entire camera module.
The company has given a glimpse of the rotary ring in a new video, and as the clip shows, it offers an experience that’s very similar to traditional cameras. While Xiaomi didn’t confirm it yet, per Digital Chat Station, a reliable leaker, the physical ring isn’t a decorative element. Instead, it can offer actual zoom functionality.
Of course, the zoom ring isn’t the only notable change on the special Xiaomi 17 Ultra edition. There’s a 3D Leica engraving near the camera module, which adds more aesthetic appeal to this variant.
Previously, the company detailed the 200 MP periscope telephoto of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and per the shared samples, it seems that the sensor can offer detail-rich portrait and zoom shots. More details of the phone could be officially confirmed ahead of the imminent Chinese launch, which is set for December 25, 2025.
