Yes launches 5G Advanced network, available to existing postpaid and broadband customers at no extra cost

YTL Communications has once again made history as the first telco in Malaysia to commercially launch 5G Advanced through its service brand, Yes. Already deployed across the Klang Valley and set for nationwide completion by December 2025, this milestone ushers in a new era of next-generation connectivity, offering Malaysians deeper 5G coverage, faster performance, and AI-ready capabilities that will benefit both consumers and businesses.

The launch was announced during the “Yes Presents: The Future First” Tech Talk event, where Yes showcased the real-world potential of 5G Advanced — featuring record-breaking downlink and uplink speeds, ultra-low latency, and for the first time in Malaysia, advanced network slicing with quality-of-service prioritisation. This technology essentially introduces a “VIP lane” on the Yes 5G network, ensuring users enjoy consistent and reliable connectivity even in high-demand situations.

YTL Communications Chief Executive Officer Wing K. Lee described the milestone as a leap forward for Malaysia’s digital future. “This is more than a network upgrade; it’s a game-changer,” he said. “With 5G Advanced, Malaysians can experience broader and deeper 5G coverage nationwide — a high-performance wireless network the country has not seen before. It’s the foundation for an uncapped, inclusive, and AI-ready society that Malaysians deserve.”

David Hägerbro, President & CEO of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh, also highlighted the significance of the launch. “The introduction of 5G Advanced by YTL Communications marks a new chapter in Malaysia’s digital journey. This evolution of 5G delivers smoother streaming, more responsive gaming, and next-level mobile experiences. YTL Communications is now the ninth operator globally to launch 5G Advanced, built on the advanced capabilities of DNB’s Ericsson-powered 5G network — continuously enhanced through software updates to remain the most intelligent and high-performing 5G network in the world.”

What Yes 5G Advanced Brings to Malaysia

    Widest Nationwide Coverage
Yes 5G Advanced leverages 700MHz and 3500MHz spectrum integration for stronger indoor penetration and broader outdoor reach, ensuring users remain connected to 5G for both data and voice (VoNR). The enhanced network delivers high download and upload throughput, ultra-low latency, and intelligent traffic management, guaranteeing best-in-class performance for gaming, streaming, video calls, and mission-critical industrial operations.

    AI Future-Ready Capabilities
With self-optimising intelligence and network slicing, Yes 5G Advanced dynamically adapts to create real-time “priority lanes” for specific users or applications. This AI-driven infrastructure enables the next generation of digital experiences, from smart city operations and autonomous vehicles to real-time cloud gaming and AI-powered industrial automation.

    Uncapping Everyday Life

Staying true to its “Uncap Yourself” philosophy, Yes continues to democratise high-speed connectivity by making advanced technology affordable and accessible to all Malaysians. Beginning today, all Yes 5G Postpaid and Wireless Broadband customers are automatically upgraded to 5G Advanced at no additional cost or registration — users simply need a compatible 5G device to enjoy the benefits.

    Celebratory Launch Offers

To celebrate this historic milestone, Yes introduced a range of limited-time 5G Advanced bundles:

    • Yes 5G Advanced Broadband Bundle: Unlimited data and speed, powered by the Yes Infinite Gateway MAX router, for just RM68 per month.
    • Yes Infinite+ Advanced Phone Bundles: Exclusive savings of up to RM3,999 on flagship 5G devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Nothing Phone (3), as well as other 5G Advanced-ready smartphones from HONOR, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE. Customers also enjoy additional perks such as free accessories, extended warranties, and bill rebates, all with free access to the Yes 5G Advanced network.
