Honor has introduced the X70 5G, a new mid-range smartphone with much endurance thanks to a gigantic 8,300mAh battery and a modern Snapdragon chipset. With a 6,000-nit AMOLED display and a waterproof chassis, the Honor X70 5G arguably has intriguing specifications.

The brand-new Honor X70 5G is not particularly thick or heavy, as it measures 0.31 inches in height and weighs 6.8 oz. Despite that, it boasts one of the largest batteries in its class and offers 8,300of mAh capacity as well as USB-C charging with up to 80 watts. However, wireless charging is only available on the highest configuration with 512GB of mass storage.

Honor claims that the battery lasts up to 15.6 hours of GPS navigation or up to 27 hours of video playback. Furthermore, Honor has opted for the modern Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, which features four ARM Cortex-A720 performance cores and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. According to the Chinese manufacturer, the X70 5G is particularly robust. Since the mid-range smartphone is IP69K certified, it’s waterproof and should survive drops from a height of up to 8.2 ft from any angle.

Meanwhile, the 6.79-inch AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2640 x 1200 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz and a remarkable HDR peak brightness of 6,000 nits, with 1,800 nits of full-screen brightness. The touchscreen is designed to respond accurately to inputs even when wet. The Honor X70 5G features an 8 MP f/2.0 selfie camera and a 50 MP f/1.88 main camera with optical image stabilization.

    Price and availability

The Honor X70 5G will first launch in China, where the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs the equivalent of $195. For the top configuration with 12GB memory and 512GB storage, Honor officially charges $279.
