Apple Launches iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with New Design, A19 Pro Chip, and Industry-Leading Camera System

Apple today introduced iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max with a striking new design that delivers a dramatic leap in performance. Both models feature A19 Pro, the most powerful and efficient chip for iPhone yet, enabling advanced camera systems, next-level mobile gaming, and Apple Intelligence.

Available in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, the Super Retina XDR displays feature ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On capability, 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness, and double the outdoor contrast of earlier models. Ceramic Shield 2, tougher than any glass or glass-ceramic, offers 3x better scratch resistance and reduced glare.

For the first time, Ceramic Shield also protects the back glass, making the new Pro lineup Apple’s most durable ever.

The brushed aluminium unibody is crafted with aerospace-grade 7000-series alloy, maximising thermal performance and durability. A plateau on the back houses components and makes room for a larger battery, while antennas are embedded around the perimeter for the best-performing system yet.

The A19 Pro chip pushes performance to new heights with a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU, each GPU core featuring built-in Neural Accelerators.

This architecture supports advanced AI models, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and AAA mobile games at higher frame rates.

Compared to A18 Pro, sustained performance improves by up to 40 percent. The chip also powers Apple Intelligence and professional creative workflows. Complementing A19 Pro is the N1 wireless networking chip, which brings Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, along with improved reliability for AirDrop and Personal Hotspot.

Built with an Apple-designed vapour chamber laser-welded into a strong, light, and thermally conductive aluminium unibody, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max deliver Apple’s best-ever performance and an enormous leap in battery life.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max deliver professional-grade photography with three 48MP Fusion rear cameras and the new 18MP Centre Stage front camera.

The upgraded Telephoto uses a tetraprism design with a sensor 56 percent larger than before, offering 4x optical zoom at 100mm and an unprecedented 8x optical zoom at 200mm. Machine learning-driven Photonic Engine enhancements improve natural detail, colour, and low-light performance, while digital zoom extends up to 40x.

New Photographic Styles, including a Bright option in iOS 26, provide additional creative control. The Centre Stage front camera offers portrait and landscape selfies without rotating the device, AI-powered field-of-view adjustments, and stabilised 4K HDR video with Dual Capture functionality.

The iPhone 17 Pro series is the first smartphone line to support ProRes RAW, Log 2, and genlock. These features allow precise frame synchronisation across multiple cameras for seamless production workflows. ProRes RAW is supported in Final Cut Camera and Blackmagic Camera, while genlock works with Blackmagic’s new Camera ProDock.

Apple is launching a new range of accessories for iPhone 17 Pro, including TechWoven Cases in five colours, Clear Cases, Silicone Cases in six colours, and a Crossbody Strap in ten colours. A FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe and the Apple-designed 40W Dynamic Power Adapter are also available, along with a Qi2 25W MagSafe Charger.

    Pricing and Availability

iPhone 17 Pro starts at RM5,499 with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.

iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at RM5,999 and introduces a new 2TB tier.

Pre-orders open September 12 in Malaysia, with availability beginning September 19.
