Capcom reports eighth consecutive year of record profits as Monster Hunter Wilds sells 10.1m copies

Catalogue sales were strong, with 3.18 million copies of 2018’s Monster Hunter World sold and 2.76 million further sales of 2023’s Resident Evil 4 remake

Capcom has reported record profits for its financial year ending March 31, 2025, driven by 10.1 million sales of Monster Hunter Wilds and strong catalogue sales across its different franchises.

The company recorded net sales of ¥169.6 billion ($1.15 billion), with operating profit growing for the twelfth consecutive year.

    The numbers

For the 12 months ended March 31, 2025:

    • Net sales: ¥169.6 billion ($1.15 billion, up 11.3% year-over-year)
    • Net income: ¥48.45 billion ($328 million, up 11.7% year-over-year)

Monster Hunter Wilds is the clear highlight in terms of new releases, with Capcom noting that anticipation for the February 2025 release also drove significant interest in existing entries.

The series has now passed 100 million copies sold worldwide. The company also noted that the mobile title Monster Hunter Now has passed 15 million downloads.

Catalogue sales – that is, sales of games released in previous fiscal years – came in at 39.49 million units versus 36.29 million last year.

Total sales for Monster Hunter: World now sit at 28.51 million units sold, after selling an additional 3.19 million in FY25. Monster Hunter Rise sold a further 2.44 million units this year, taking its total to 17.18 million.

Expansions also drove big numbers, with 2.6 million additional sales of Monster Hunter World’s Iceborne DLC (taking it to a total of 15.2 million sales), and a further 2.13 million sales of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (reaching a total of 9.88 million sales).

Resident Evil 4’s remake sits at 9.92 million units sold after selling a further 2.76 million. Older Resident Evil entries continue to shift huge numbers for Capcom, with 2021’s Resident Evil Village selling 1.5 million additional copies this fiscal year, taking its total to 11.3 million.

Resident Evil 2’s remake hit a new milestone of 15.4 million sales, after adding 1.43 million copies sold for this FY. Likewise, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 3’s remake added 1.39 million and 1.13 million copies sold respectively, taking their lifetime totals to 14.78 million and 9.9 million sales.

Other franchises saw significant catalogue sales activity, too. Street Fighter 6 sold an additional 1.37 million (its new lifetime total is 4.67 million units sold), while Devil May Cry 5 shifted a further 1.23 million copies (new lifetime total of 9.13 million).

Dragon’s Dogma 2 saw a bump of 1.078 million units to an updated lifetime sales total of 3.7 million.

In total, Capcom reported ¥125.1 billion ($846 million) in overall sales for its digital content business, up 4.4% year-on-year.

On the esports side, Capcom saw success with two of its Street Fighter 6 championship tournaments reaching a total of 14,000 visitors and more than 10 million views online.

Capcom’s Arcade Operations business – which includes its merchandise retail operations in Japan – grew sales by 17.6% year-on-year.

Its Amusement Equipment business, including its branded pachi-slot machines, grew sales by 73.1% year-on-year.

Looking ahead for the next fiscal year, Capcom has projected net sales up 12% to ¥190 billion ($1.28 billion) and net income up 5.3% to ¥51 billion ($344 million).

The company included the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection 2, Onimusha 2 remaster and Switch 2 ports of games Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess as highlights of FY26.

Capcom anticipates catalogue sales – that is, games released in previous fiscal years – to make up a record 85.2% of its sales, driven by the continued success of Monster Hunter Wilds.
