Honda Malaysia Launches Refreshed New HR-V with Bold Design, Enhanced Tech and Safety
Honda Malaysia has officially launched the New HR-V, updating the country’s best-selling non-national B-segment SUV with a fresh exterior design, enhanced practicality, upgraded connectivity, and improved safety features. As the market leader in its segment with a 41% share and over 170,000 units sold since 2015, the HR-V continues to set the benchmark for compact SUVs in Malaysia.
A Bold Evolution of a Fan Favourite
“The New HR-V is a bold evolution of Malaysia’s favourite SUV, blending sportiness, innovation, and smart practicality,” said Mr. Narushi Yazaki, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia. “It reflects Honda’s drive to deliver mobility that is advanced, trusted, and enjoyable. With three dynamic powertrains and class-leading features, it continues to inspire freedom and create unforgettable moments.”
The launch also celebrates 21 years of Honda’s hybrid leadership in Malaysia, underscoring the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation.
Enhanced Design Inside and Out
The New HR-V features a refreshed front grille integrated with full LED headlights and Active Cornering Lights*, giving it a sharper and more confident road presence.
At the rear, a distinctive full-width LED taillight strip adds a premium touch. All variants now ride on bold 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, while the e:HEV RS variant receives a performance-inspired RS styling package.
Inside, the cabin has been further refined for practicality and comfort. The e:HEV RS variant introduces RS-embossed sporty seats and a redesigned centre console with a wireless charger*. A new floating 8-inch Display Audio Unit enhances visibility and usability, with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ connectivity now standard across all variants. Front and rear USB-C ports and Honda’s Air Diffusion System improve overall convenience and comfort.
Three Powertrain Options for Every Driver
Buyers can choose from three engine options to suit different driving styles:
- The 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine produces 121PS and 145Nm, ideal for urban commuting with great efficiency.
- The 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine delivers 181PS and 240Nm, offering a dynamic and responsive driving experience.
- The 1.5L e:HEV hybrid powertrain produces 131PS and 253Nm of torque, seamlessly transitioning between EV, hybrid, and engine drive modes for a smooth, eco-conscious performance.
All variants feature three selectable drive modes — ECON, Normal, and Sport — to tailor driving dynamics to different conditions.
Class-Leading Safety and Connectivity
Safety has also been upgraded, with Honda SENSING now standard across all variants, and for the first time includes Adaptive Driving Beam*. The Honda CONNECT telematics system has been expanded to include the S and E variants, offering more customers access to remote control features, vehicle diagnostics, and real-time security alerts.
