Just $0.99: Interactive ARG point and click adventure 80% off now on Steam for a limited time – NotebookCheck.net News

Simulacra, an alternate reality adventure game that tasks you with solving the strange disappearance of a young woman using her phone, drops to its lowest ever recorded price on Steam. It is 80% as part of a special promotion for a limited time.

Simulacra is a unique ARG experience that tasks you with solving the mysterious disappearance of a young woman named Anna. Similar to the “found footage” trope in horror movies, you find Anna’s phone.

The lost smartphone contains a wealth of information to help you solve the case, including Anna’s messages, her installed apps, photos, and even videos that hint at what might have happened.

The story unfolds primarily through this medium, blending a detailed and realistic phone interface with very topical questions about privacy and security. At its heart is a slow burn horror thriller with an unsettling atmosphere and scarce jump scares. The digital world the game creates feels surprisingly real, with live actors portraying the game’s characters.

The narrative branches off into five different endings depending on the choices you make.

    Accolades and user reviews

The 2017 title has won various awards, including Best Innovation and Best Storytelling at the SEA Game Awards, as well as Excellence in Storytelling at the IMGA Awards. The game also has a Very Positive rating on Steam.

    The Simulacra Trilogy Bundle

Along with the 2017 original, the sequels Simulacra 2 and 3 are also on sale. You can grab all three for just $6.93 as part of The Simulacra Trilogy Bundle.

Simulacra 2 tasks you with solving the death of a social media influencer and expands on the mechanics of the original with an updated and complex phone interface, with new apps and a larger live-action cast. The game is at its lowest price of $2.39 during the special promotion.

Simulacra 3 casts a much wider net, this time involving a peaceful town and its disappearing residents. As always, your only clues come in the form of a recovered phone, which you must sift through to solve the mystery. The game is only $3.99 with a 60% discount during the special promotion. The sale lasts till September 19.
