Philps Hue smart lights are already pricey. They’re about to get pricier

If you’ve ever balked at the lofty price of a Philips Hue smart bulb, just wait until next month.

Signify, the parent company of Philips Hue, has announced that it will raise prices in the U.S. starting in July—and yes, tariffs are to blame.

“Signify will increase prices on our Philips Hue portfolio in the US, effective July 1, 2025, as a direct result of tariffs,” the company said in a statement to Hueblog.

It’s not clear how much Philips Hue prices will be going up, with Signify noting that it “reserves the right to modify prices based on new or additional tariffs becoming effective in the future.”

We’ve reached out to Philips Hue for comment.

Philips Hue is just the latest smart home brand to raise its prices in response to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. As The Verge reports, the just-released Yale Smart Lock with Matter got hit with a $20 price hike thanks to tariffs, while Wyze said it’s eyeing price increases after a recent shipment of floodlights cost the company roughly $255,000 in tariffs.

Philips Hue lights are already expensive compared to its competitors, with a single Hue White and color ambience bulb retailing for $64.99, versus $26.26 for a 2-pack of Wyze color bulbs.

Of course, you can save by buying Hue bulbs in bundles or waiting for a sale (Prime Day is just around the corner). We’ve also long maintained that while Hue lighting products are expensive, they’re worth it, namely because they’re so feature-packed, reliable, and part of a very large and sophisticated smart lighting ecosystem.

While the Hue price hikes won’t hit until July 1, we’re already seeing evidence of Hue lighting products becoming more expensive.

Take the just-announced Hue smart button, which has been revamped with a larger design. The first Hue smart button originally retailed for $20; the new version costs $32.99, a 65-percent increase.

That’s not to say we’re expecting 65-percent price hikes for all Hue products next month, and as Signify has pointed out, the state of the various Trump tariffs are in constant flux.

Still, if you’re looking to load up on Hue lights, you might want to shop sooner rather than later.
